Malioboro is one of a street name in the city of Yogyakarta,Indonesia. If u have the opportunity to visit Yogyakarta, do not forget to come over to Malioboro to shop! There�s a saying : � If you didn�t visit Malioboro, then you weren�t going to Yogya! �Because malioboro is one of the tourist main attraction. Along the street you can buy all crafts, gifts, batik, almost everything typical of Yogyakarta, even Balinese craft!
I believe when you visit Yogyakarta, everyone will recommend you to visit this street. But, please keep this in mind, always be aware! specially when you were travelling alone without local friends or trusted guides, because there are scammers, they�re looking for tourist and offer you paintings or exhibition and told you that it from famous local artist and offer you price with several amounts of money, etc. And all you need is to say No,and leave them immediately! And If you would like to buy several things, remember to always bargain HALF PRICE! yes HALF PRICE,because basically they differentiate the price between local and international tourist. I will recommend you to buy in an official shop if you didn�t want to get ripped off!
But anyway, that�s just a few tips from me. Overall, it�s a great place to visit. A very unique street with traditional trader. You can buy raditional crafts all along the street and there�s one big mall in the middle of the street and inside the mall, there are several artisan gallery, but of course the price will be different from the street artist.
There are many ways to explore Malioboro, but the unique one is to explore it with Becak. Becak is traditional cycle rickshaw that driven by a human power, it�s gasoline free and refreshing. To me that�s just a nice way to explore Malioboro or even Yogyakarta, and remember! Always Bargain! Yogyakarta people are very humble and bargaining is just one of proper way to show humbility. Do not afraid to low down the price.
